Games and physical education

We run as many teams as we have pupils for, which in a school of this size means D and E teams in most year groups. The point is not depth of talent; it is that a fourteen-year-old who will never be picked first still gets a real fixture against somebody their own standard.

Forty acres helps. So does refusing to let the first teams take every good pitch and every good coach.
